Lora studied English at the University of Hull before training at East 15 Acting School, and went on to work as an actor and director for companies including English Touring Theatre, The Orange Tree and Theatr Clwyd. She rediscovered her passion for writing on a creative writing course at her local bookshop before completing an MA in Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2018.

 

Her debut novel, Daughter of the Shipwreck, was published in 2021, followed by The Widow's Last Secret in 2022. Her unpublished novel The Experimental Gentlemen won the Yeovil Literary Prize in 2024.

 

Lora's novels are rooted in extensive historical research, with a particular interest in the lives of women and others whose stories have been left at the margins of history.

 

Her new novel, The Bone House, will be published in 2027.
